Morgan Ruig and Evan Shay, 28, were in Beijing for a polo tournament when they decided to email the organisers of the event and requested entry.

The organisers failed to check the pair out, or due to internet restrictions, simply didn’t have the means to, and granted the men entry as Australia’s golf team.

They even had blazers made to look the part.

"We just emailed them really. I don't think they're massive on the internet over there so I don't think they had many opportunities to research," Mr Shay told Daily Mail Australia.

"We didn't think we'd actually be accepted."

And while the boys might be good with a polo stick, they can’t play golf to save themselves.

Shay hit a ball into the water prompting his caddy to tell him they “brought great shame upon [their] families.”

Ruig and Shay finished second and third last respectively shooting over 120.

The pair will now shift their focus to the 2017 Somali Open.
