The Kangaroos’ World Cup aspirations have copped another blow after Darius Boyd was ruled out due to injury.
Josh Mansour has been named his replacement in a stunning comeback for the Panthers winger who injured his ACL 12 months ago.
Boyd missed two finals matches with a hamstring injury before again succumbing to the same ailment in the Broncos’ preliminary final loss to Melbourne.
Boyd’s exit follows that of Andrew Fifita who has decided to play for Tonga in a massive boost to the Island nation.
“Obviously it’s disappointing for Darius, who has been a fantastic player for the Kangaroos,” coach Mal Meninga said.
“It will be wonderful to see Josh back in the Kangaroos jersey after his injury in last year’s Four Nations.
“I know how disappointed he was to be injured last year and I know how passionate he is about the green and gold.
“It is a credit to him that he has been able to return to the highest representative honours.”
