Catch The Man at the opening of Brisbane's new sports venue this weekend.
Australian sports stars including Anthony “The Man” Mundine and triple Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist John Steffensen will turn out for the launch of the Brisbane Sports Performance Centre in Kangaroo Point this Saturday, September 21.
Following the launch event to take place throughout the day, BSPC will have some of Australia’s best boxing talent take to the ring, including Australian Middleweight champion Nate “King” Carroll, current Qld Cruiserweight champ “Hungarian Hammer” Balazs Vargs, and hot welterweight prospect Ozan “Crash” Craddock. They will be taking on Thai opponents.
The fight event will also host eight matches between corporate contenders trained by former welterweight fighter Steve Wijangco, known as "model man” in boxing circles. Corporate contenders include Andrew Crook, director of one of the country’s most successful public relations firms, Crook PR.
Prior to the fights, the open day for BSPC will kick off at 8am with an Intra-Box CrossFit challenge, and CrossFit members will get to take their revenge with the “Train the Trainer” Session at 11am.
Anthony Mundine will be running an exclusive boxing workshop from 10am, with Australian sprint champion and former amateur boxer John Steffensen also making an appearance. Following the Mundine workshop there will be a BBQ lunch and meet and greet with BSPC coaches from midday.
The open day is an opportunity for owners John Bastable, Head Boxing Trainer, and Ally McKenzie, Head CrossFit Trainer, to showcase the facilities on offer at their huge two-part warehouse on Main Street in Kangaroo Point. The centre is home to Boxing Express, CrossFit P4P, Fit Physiques Personal Training, Personalised Performance Exercise Physiology, Eat Me Nutrition, and Knead It Remedial Massage Therapy.
Boxing Express is custom-designed for fight shows, opening itself up to the local, national, and international boxing scene, as well as a training facility for amateur and pro fighters. CrossFit P4P is home to the high-intensity fitness workout that is taking the world by storm.
