Saunders joins ex-Tiger and PNG international Rod Griffin as the second forward to sign with the club this week.

The former junior Kangaroo signed a one-year deal with Canterbury after obtaining a release from the final year of his Penrith contract.

“We are sorry to be losing Andy but at the same time excited he has been given a wonderful opportunity with another great club,” Panthers executive general manager Phil Gould said.

“Andy has been tremendous for the Panthers and his next club have secured themselves a very good man.

“We wish Andy all the best for the future.”
