Greg Inglis says Sam Burgess is disappointed in himself after he punched David Klemmer in England’s 38-16 Four Nations loss to the Kangaroos.
Burgess retaliated when Kelmmer pushed and slapped him with many celebrating a return to the biff.
He was not sanctioned for the punch with a penalty or the sin bin with officials deeming Klemmer to have got what he deserved.
Four Nations rules are in contrast to the NRL which states a player must be sin binned for punching.
The Four Nations tournament leaves the adjudicating to the discretion of officials.
“Knowing Sam, he actually said he’s disappointed in himself because he’s trying to be a role model for the kids growing up watching us,” Inglis said after receiving a text from his Rabbitohs team mate.
“We want to be good role models.
“Sam plays the game hard, he plays aggressive and he’s just disappointed.”
Australia now take on New Zealand in the final on Sunday.
