The 38-year-old faced court Wednesday for breaching a VRO relating to his former partner Maylea Tinecheff, the mother of his two children.

He is only permitted to communicate with Ms Tinecheff via text message but police allege he came within 10m of her on Tuesday.

Cousins denied this and said his former partner approached him when he dropped off a car to her home and that his children ran out to see him.

"She approached me," Cousins told the court.

"I wasn't there to stir up trouble."

Cousins said he often called police when vising the home to avoid such situations.

But Magistrate Jennifer Hawkins said police told a different story and that she needed to hear from Ms Tinecheff.

"I'm telling you exactly what happened," Cousins replied.

"I just think common sense should prevail ... I came to drop the car off."

Ms Hawkins ordered Cousins remain behind bars until a hearing on Thursday and recommended he speak to a lawyer.

Cousins swore as he was taken away.

The 38-year-old was hospitalised late last month following a car crash after an arrest warrant was issued for failing to appear in a Perth court on charges of possessing methamphetamine and two counts of breaching a violence restraining order.
