Cooper Cronk is no closer to deciding his future after confirming he is unsure if he will play on next year.
The 33-year-old veteran will leave the Storm at the end of the season and move to Sydney to be with his fiancé and be closer to his role at Fox Sports.
And with just six games remaining in 2017, the star Origin pivot says he is yet to make up his mind.
“I haven’t entertained any option for next year or beyond,” Cronk said.
“The decision I have to make is whether I want to play on, now I’m not going to lead anyone down a garden path and say ‘Oh yeah, I could consider coming to a club’ when I don’t even know if I’m going to lace the boots on next year.
“Everyone is entitled to their speculation and opinion, but from my point of view I haven’t entertained anything.”
Cronk’s indecisiveness is said to be affecting four Sydney clubs who are in a position to offer the Kangaroos halfback a contract, however, he said he will not be pressured into making a call before he is ready.
But with time fast running out, retirement seems the likely option.
He debuted in the Fox Sports commentary box at the weekend, a role which could become full-time should he walk away from the NRL.
Cronk said he understood if he leaves his decision too long he may miss out on continuing his NRL career.
“There’s still a lot of football to be played and that’s one thing that’s playing on my mind, Storm are in a decent position, we got the finals coming up then there is the World Cup so I don’t know what the timeline is but I dare say it’s still a fair way away," he said.
“I won’t be dictated by the market or the availability, if I feel like I want to play on and it ends up being that there’s nothing available my decision is pretty easy.”
