Australian off-road motorcycle superstar Toby Price will make his four-wheeled circuit racing debut next month in the opening round of the inaugural SuperUte Series.
The 2016 Dakar Rally winner will drive a Mitsubishi Triton in the SuperUte season opener at the Adelaide 500 meeting on March 1-4.
“I'm stoked to be a part of the Team Triton SuperUte campaign with the support of Mitsubishi Motors Australia,” he said.
“I'm really looking forward to putting in the work, learning more about circuit racing and having some exciting weekends.
“It's going to be a good time and I'm aiming to keep it on four wheels and get some good results.”
The team, which has factory support from Mitsubishi Motors Australia, will be known as Team Triton and will run under the Sieders Racing banner.
Price, who is an ambassador for Mitsubishi, will contest all rounds of the SuperUte Series that don't clash with his rally commitments.
“Motorsport has played a central role in Mitsubishi’s heritage and vehicle development so we embraced the opportunity to partner with Sieders Racing in the 2018 SuperUte Series,” said Mitsubishi Australia’s deputy director of sales, Tim Hore.
“SuperUtes is a great way to showcase the Mitsubishi brand and the increasingly popular Australian ute market, with close, competitive racing.”
The inaugural SuperUtes Series is for race-prepared turbo diesel dual-cab utes. It replaces the defunct V8 Ute Series, which had been contested by petrol-engined utilities from Holden and Ford.
