Taylor was sensationally sacked Monday after just three games of the 2017 campaign following heavy losses to Penrith and Canberra.

Speaking with the Daily Telegraph’s Dean Ritchie this morning on the Loz and Dog Show, Daley called on Wests bosses to lay bare the information and reasoning behind Taylor’s axing.

The NSW coach questioned the club’s willingness to back Taylor’s decision to effectively move former captain Robbie Farah on from the club and then show the mentor the door just months later.

“It certainly comes as a surprise. I don’t think anyone was expecting Jason Taylor to be sacked after three weeks,” Daley said.

“The Wests Tigers supporters supported Jason Taylor all the way through a tough period last year – and just missed out on playing finals football. They won a game week one (Rabbitohs) and then were beaten by two of the heavyweights of the competition who will give other sides a touch up. And both those sides had come off floggings themselves.

“You could say he was hard done by and what I want to know and I think most Tigers fans would like to know is what the real reason behind it all was. It is interesting to see how the mindset has changed in the past 10 or 12 days.”

Daley implored Tigers chiefs to tread carefully in appointing a new coach and give whoever is appointed a decent amount of time to apply their vision.

“Whatever happens at the Wests Tigers now they need stability at the top,” Daley said. “They need to make sure the next coach is able to implement his plans and give him time to be able to go through to the end and then judge him after that.

“We really don’t know the full facts and information and what was the real reason behind Jason Taylor being shown the door.”
