Dangerfield was handed the one-match offer from the AFL match review panel on Monday, after his "rough conduct" against Carlton's Kreuzer.

If the Geelong forward accepts the sanction he will be ineligible for the 2017 Brownlow, for which is he favourite to win.

It could provide a peculiar scenario of Dangerfield polling the most votes but having to hand over the Brownlow to someone else.

However, if Geelong appeal the sanction, Dangerfield is at risk of it becoming a two-match ban.

Geelong's next two games are against fellow top eight sides Sydney and Richmond, both at home.
