Our league-loving Inside Sport staffers Anthony Brand and James Smith are back for more analysis and jibber for the latest instalment of their burgeoning “Dead In Goal” NRL podcast.
This month these two footy nutters discuss their disgust at the fact Mitchell Moses chose to escape his Tigers contract six months early and head for the Eels, rather than stay and slog it out with the Leichhardt/Ashfield/Campbelltown/Balmain joint venture.
Also on the agenda is the issue of diving. Who would have thought we’d ever see rugby league players faking knocks and injuries on a weekly basis. But here we are. May as well go and watch soccer …

This week the boys also cover off the rarely discussed issue of the NRL being used to promote political messages on behalf of governments. It happened last week right across the game’s Indigenous Round, organised with the help of a group called Recognise. We discuss that not all of “mob” is on board with what the Recognise stands for, which in turn has the potential of damaging the NRL’s appeal amongst many Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders.
In “Zero of the Week” the boys roast the Brisbane Broncos over a boastful tweet they posted following Jake Trbojevic’s horrific injury. Meanwhile, our “Hero of the Week” is the magnificent collective of random Souths fans who like to turn up to games dressed in their bunnies gear … even when their team isn’t playing.
In “Rearview Mirror” we discuss our favourite referees of yesteryear, while we also run a close eye over all eight Round 11 NRL match-ups.
