Sandor Earl says he will treasure every moment with the Storm following his four-year ban for the trafficking of peptides.
When the 28-year-old was banished from the game in 2013 by ASADA, an NRL comeback seemed extremely unlikely.
But to the former Raider’s credit, he has fought hard to get keep himself in shape and earn a one-year deal with Melbourne, a city he has been based for the past couple of years.
And after a living a nightmare, Earl can’t wait to get back to continuing his rugby league dream.
“By week’s end we will announce a new chapter and a new beginning,” Earl wrote on social media.
“I say WE because this journey has been a rollercoaster for so much more than myself. My partner Steph, my family, close friends, my manager and mentor and everyone who took even a second out of their day to offer me support.
“A new club opens the door to a group that will become family and brothers. I walk in a new man armed with a fresh perspective full of new goals and an extremely positive outlook on the future.”
The fitness specialist has kept himself in shape training solo during his ban with ASADA rules forbidding him from working with any sports team.
“My mindset is to strip myself back to a first time rookie,” Earl continued to write on social media.
“I have overcome adversity and ultimately that will set me up for the greatest success.
“I have worked hard no doubt to get to this point BUT the hard work is only just beginning. I will work tirelessly at my trade, value every moment and take on new teachings to offer the best version of myself and be the best I can be.”
Earl also spent time at the Roosters, Penrith and Canberra and has played 48 NRL games to date over four seasons.
