The new agreement with event owner Supercars Australia means that Liqui-Moly will become a decade-long sponsor of the event.

“Both Liqui-Moly Australia and Liqui-Moly Germany are especially proud of our association with the Bathurst 12-Hour,” said Bruce Morrison, managing director of MotorActive, Liqui-Moly’s Australian partner.

“We’re looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Supercars Events over the next five years to really ramp things up and promote the Liqui-Moly brand, while helping to make the already wildly popular race an even bigger global event.

“The global stature of the race is a perfect fit for a global brand like Liqui-Moly. Also, the heavy European flavour only serves to further reinforce the relevance to Germany’s number one oils and additives brand, as every car in the field can use Liqui-Moly’s off-the-shelf range of oils and lubricants – just like the race-winning Maranello Motorsport Ferrari did in 2014 and 2017.”

The Bathurst 12 Hour race was reborn in 2007 after four 12 Hour euduros were held on the Mount Panorama circuit from 1991 to ’94.

Initially the reborn 12 Hour was for production cars, but in 2011 race organisers opened it up to the international GT3 sports car racing category.

Since then, the annual February event has boomed, attracting increasing international interest and participation each year.

Already it is being seen as one of the world’s premier endurance sports car races.
