An amateur footy player has received a 20-year ban for a cowardly and sickening kick on an opponent on the weekend.
The Ipswich Eagles division three reserves player kicked an opponent, who was laying defenseless on the ground, in the head with sickening force.
He was handed a 20-year ban from AFL Queensland, which applies all over the country.
The player, who was not named, has also been banned for life from his club.
The injured player was helped off the field with concussion and is reportedly still recovering from the clash.
"We made it quite clear to everybody in the community and throughout our club that we don't condone that kind of behaviour," Eagles president Clint Bateman told the Queensland Times.
"It's not what we are about.
"It was a pretty sickening incident so with the committee we made the decision to act."
