The 28-year-old will join the Raiders next month in an effort to prove himself over the pre-season.

Taylor was embroiled in the Titans' cocaine scandal last year, and pleaded guilty to two counts of cocaine possession in 2014.

He will be sentenced next month.

Taylor was once considered one of the most damaging players in the game and represented Queensland and Australia during stints with the Broncos, Rabbitohs and Titans.

Taylor will aim to impress in the pre-season in the hope of earning a contract for 2017.

“If David achieves his goals and is then offered a small playing fee for 2017 he has made better choices for himself, his family and his football,” Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said.

“It has shown he has bought in and committed to turning himself around.

“The Raiders have the resources in turning David into a regular NRL player, but it’s up to David to show if he wants it bad enough.”
