The Good Neighbour Volleyball Tournament kicks off in Canberra this weekend and if the names of the social teams are anything to go by it should be a hoot.
The tournament is the largest senior Volleyball event in the country attracting more than 118 teams, playing over 350 games across four venues.
“As the name implies it’s a friendly, high spirited event for Volleyball players and fantastic that for over 50 years Canberra has been the host,” said ACT Chief Executive Adam Castle.
“The social team names are sure to make you smile including Skinfolds, How I net your mother, Jump like you’re younger and Ned Flanders.”
Appearing in the top Men’s Division is local side Canberra Heat and Volleyball Australia’s Centre of Excellence mixing it with tough competitors from NSW, Victoria and as far away as Toowoomba.
The Tongan Volleyball Association is also on the way!
Castle added: “Not only do we cater for the elite players but all levels can compete. Our competitions range from mixed recreational, schools and men’s and women’s divisions.
“While the competition is fierce, the social aspect of the weekend is also a highlight. This event continues to be an annual pilgrimage for Australia’s volleyball community.”
