Jarryd Hayne got more than he bargained for during a high school talk on cyber security when pornographic images flashed up on a massive screen while he was on stage.
Organisers said a student accessed the open wi-fi network at Robina High School.
Hayne said the images were not from his phone which was supported by Norton Security expert Nick Savvides who was present during the embarrassing gaffe.
Hayne's phone was being accessed by Norton for presentational purposes at the time.
Savvides said the images had come from another device.
“It’s unfortunate and all I can say (is) it definitely was not Jarryd’s device,” he said.
“Connecting to open networks, people can see what you’re doing and in this case, inject unwanted materials.”
Hayne said it was an awkward moment as he stood in front of 200 students.
“It was,” Hayne said. “I shut my phone straight away so that way I was logged off. Wow.”
“I think (cyber) safety is the first and foremost thing that is important.’’
