The Roosters, Rabbitohs and Newcastle have all confirmed they will not try to lure the code-hopping star for 2017.

The Roosters were widely tipped to secure the former Eels’ services after paying him the courtesy of supplying a car on his return from San Francisco last year.

But Roosters CEO John Lee put that speculation to bed in confirming the Bondi club was out of the race to sign Hayne.

“Jarryd would take up a lot of salary cap and clubs at this stage are locking down for next season,” he said.

“I don’t want to offer false expectations. Our cap will be expended for next year — there’s not Jarryd Hayne room in our cap.”

South Sydney coach Michael Maguire also confirmed his club was not chasing the former NSW and Australian representative.

“I am pretty satisfied with what we have got,” he said.

“He is a quality player but we have got some really good marquee players at the club already.”

Gold Coast CEO Graham Annesley said while his club was interested in the star fullback, signing him was easier said than done.

“Any NRL club would be interested in Jarryd Hayne. But there are a lot of things that would have to fall into place for us to be able to table an offer,” he said.

“Yes, there have been some general discussions but there hasn’t been negotiations as such.

“We certainly have not tabled an offer.”
