The triple Olympic gold medallist posted a picture of himself on social media stating:

“My brother comments to the media… Does anyone know he beat the shit out of me?

“Everyone knows he is an angry man.”

His brother Craig Hackett addressed the media yesterday and said his family could no longer put up with his “dangerous” behaviour.

His parents called the police on Wednesday morning after the former Olympian had what they called a “mental breakdown”.

He was arrested and taken to Southport Police station and later released.

“We’ve reached the end of the road,” his brother told the media.

“He had the world at his feet … such a role model to so many kids … and now no one knows what’s going to happen. It doesn’t look encouraging.

“It’s coming to the point now where he is dangerous. He’s a danger to himself, he’s a danger to the community, and poor Mum and Dad have tried to look after him so much. I’m concerned for their welfare.”
