Lleyton Hewitt says Bernard Tomic needs to be in the “right head space” before being considered for Davis Cup selection.
Tomic failed to gain selection for next week's world group quarter-final against the United States in Brisbane.
His recent form has been poor with the 24-year-old suffering four straight first-round losses since the Australian Open as he battles a back injury.
Asked if he would consider Tomic in future Hewitt said:
"Possibly. I just don't think he is in the right head space to go out and play for his country."
