A cyclist lost valuable time during the Giro d’Italia because he “needed to take a dump”.
Tom Dumoulin was in the lead at the time when he had to relieve himself.
With the cameras on him, Dumoulin veered to the side of the road and quickly tore off his clothes.
"I needed to take a dump," Dumoulin explained afterwards.
"I could not hold it any more."
Dumoulin finished more than two minutes back but maintained a 31 second lead overall.
"I started to feel it in the downhill of the Stelvio and I had to stop," Dumoulin said.
"Back on the bike I decided to fight and draw conclusions after the finish. I'm still in the 'maglia rosa' but I'm very disappointed."
