Perkins (above) will take over the seat vacated by Rullo at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, Rullo and LDM having parted ways after the Gold Coast 600 previous round of the championship.

“We couldn’t come to an agreement regarding next year,” Lucas Dumbrell told Supercars.com, “so both parties decided it was best to split now.

“It was a mutual decision. We thank Alex for his efforts this year and I wish him all the best for the future.

“It’s good to have Jack on board. He’s been a friend of mine for a long time and is a notable back-up, having filled in for us before.”

Perkins’ most recent solo Supercars start was with LDM, in the 2015 Sydney 500, when he replaced an injured Nick Percat.

More recently, Perkins has had plenty of Supercars race experience as James Courtney’s co-driver in the Mobil 1 HSV Racing during this year's three-round PIRTEK Enduro Cup.

Rullo is said to be considering a range of possible options for 2018, including a drive in the British Touring Car Championship.

Rullo, 17, was a controversial addition to the Supercars Championship this year. The youngster was granted Supercars championship licence on a probation basis despite the fact that he failed to meet both the minimum age limit and the minimum past driving achievement requirements.
