Steve Smith says Nathan Lyon is in danger of being omitted from Thursday’s opening Test against Pakistan.
Chadd Sayers could be unleashed as part of an all-out pace attack at the Gabba despite Lyon having better figures at the ground than Shane Warne.
Lyon was believed to be a certainty after fronting the media on Tuesday, however, Sayers could don the Baggy Green for the first time in the pink ball Test.
Sayers took eight wickets for South Australia against NSW under lights last week.
“We don’t (have a team) yet, we want to have another look at the wicket today and determine which way we want to go from there,” Smith said.
When asked if Lyon could be overlooked, Smith said:
“It’s possible, yes.”
