South Sydney coach Michael Maguire’s future is under immense pressure following Sunday’s 54-4 loss to Canberra.
It marked the Rabbitohs’ eighth-straight defeat and has all but ruled them out of finals contention.
The loss marked the 2014 premiership-winning mentor’s worst chapter during his five seasons at the club.
Club boss Shane Richardson last week released a statement on their website stating it was not Maguire who needed to shape up but the players.
“Near the end of last year and start of this year, people started to question Michael Maguire (but) I don’t want Michael Maguire to be one bit different to what he was when we won the grand final,” Richardson said.
But after a 50-point drubbing to the Raiders, Maguire, who has taken the chopping block to his support staff, would surely be feeling the heat.
