Makinson, who won the Golden Boot on Wednesday and debuted for England in Denver in June, is keen to try his hand down under in the future.

The 27-year-old winger or fullback has made his name in eight seasons in Super League with St Helens.

On Saturday he scored a hat-trick to help England sink New Zealand at Anfield.

"It's something I want to do, definitely," Makinson said.

"It's something I'd like to experience - whether that'll be in a couple of years or not, who knows. But it's something I'd like to do."

Makinson is contracted to St Helens until 2021.

The outside back has bagged four tries in three Test appearances and 108 in 200 appearances in first-grade.

Makinson revealed he remains close to former St Helens coach Nathan Brown, currently with the Newcastle Knights, but hasn't been in contact about signing for the Knights.

"I've spoken to him as I get on with him pretty well," he said. "He's a good fella, an old coach of mine and wishes me well - but not yet."
