Kangaroos and All Stars coach Mal Meninga will keep a close eye on Jarryd Hayne as the one-time NFL star seeks a return to national honours.
Hayne was named at fullback for the upcoming All Stars clash giving Meninga a first-hand look at how the former Australian and NSW star is tracking.
Meninga said he was happy to have the electric back in his corner for once after the Dally M winner terrorised the former Queensland coach and his troops at Origin level for years.
"He did cause a lot of problems for Queensland," Meninga said.
"I'm not quite sure where the Titans are going to use him, fullback may be his best position but it's nice to have him in the All Stars.
"I've worked with Jarryd before in the PM's XIII concept and I think the players will be excited about playing with Jarryd."
Hayne returned to the NRL late last season after signing with the Titans.
And while the 28-year-old showed glimpses of his former self, Meninga said getting a pre-season under his belt would greatly benefit his aspirations for 2017.
"It'll make a massive, massive difference. He came back and wasn't rugby league fit," he said.
"It took him a while to find his feet. An off-season for him and being fit and healthy, it will pay enormous dividends for him and the club."
