The Gold Coast’s early season aspirations have been dealt a massive blow with star hooker Nathan Peats set to miss the opening rounds of 2017.
Peats suffered a shoulder injury in the Titans’ 26-6 trial loss to the Warriors on Sunday.
The dummy half is touted as a genuine Blues Origin bolter with many expecting him to usurp incumbent Robbie Farah.
The hooker was spotted with his arm in a sling Monday as the Titans travel back to Australia.
He will have scans Tuesday to ascertain the extent of the damage, however early signs do not look good.
Back-up hooker Pat Politoni was forced from the field with a broken arm.
“Tyrone Roberts had a go there,” coach Neil Henry said.
“If Peatsy’s not going to be right, he’ll probably have to make a fist of that position which I’m comfortable he can do.”
