Seventeen-year-old Italian junior Maria Vittoria Viviani has been disqualified from the opening round of the Australian Open for hitting a ball kid.
She was evicted from the tournament in tears for hitting a ball kid with a ball after losing the opening set.
Footage shows Viviani immediately apologising for her actions.
She was not looking at the ball kid when she hit the ball with contact seemingly accidental.
The umpire disqualified the Italian from the tournament after losing the opening set 6-2 to Chinese opponent Xin Yu Wang.
Japan's Kei Nishikori made contact with a ball kid during his fourth round loss to Roger Federer, but was spared sanction from the umpire.
