Canberra have signed Australian rugby union schoolboy star Charlie Rorke to a two-year deal.
The 17-year-old’s signing follows that of South Sydney Rabbitohs star Angus Crichton who played for the Australian Schoolboys rugby team in 2013.
Fox Sports reports Rorke was viewed as a possible future international hooker but will likely play in the backrow for the Raiders during his two-year rookie contract.
Rorke also met with the Brumbies, but the dismal season from Australian Super Rugby teams, in which Australian teams failed to win a single match against their Kiwi counterparts, is said to have contributed to his decision to chase a rugby league career.
Rorke is a former league junior whose older brother Harry played for the Sea Eagles under-20s team.
