Raiders halfback Aiden Sezer says his side will not get sucked in to the Storm’s “boring” style of play in Saturday night’s preliminary final at AAMI Park.
The Storm would love nothing more than an 80-minute arm-wrestle on home turf but the Canberra halfback said doing so would likely end his side’s season.
“I think conditions will play a part but we don’t want to go down there and play into Melbourne’s hands and just play boring footy,” Sezer said.
“We want to test them and play a bit of Raider footy and get a win like we did on the weekend.”
The Raiders are the best attacking outfit of the remaining four sides and have a lot of points in them.
But Melbourne’s innate ability to slow the play-the-ball could counter Canberra’s flair.
And in spite of his side’s undeniable scoring ability, Sezer said defence was critical to victory.
“I think it’s about defence and we can build a platform from that and you can’t hold back,” he said.
“You only have one shot at it we have worked hard to give ourselves this opportunity so hopefully we go down there and pout in a good performance.”
The Raiders are chasing their first premiership in 22 years.
