Richmond vice-captain Brett Deledio has been traded to Greater Western Sydney on the final day of the AFL trade period.
Deledio was recruited to Richmond as the number one draft pick in the 2004 National AFL Draft and went on to play 243 games for the Tigers and booted 182 goals.
“Brett's a fantastic player and has given our football club wonderful service for 12 seasons,” Richmond’s general manager – football talent, Dan Richardson said.
“He's a talented competitor, and wore the Richmond jumper with pride every time he pulled it on.
“After 12 seasons with Richmond, we understand his desire for a fresh start to continue his football career, and we've been able to reach a deal that satisfies both football clubs and Brett."
Senior coach Damien Hardwick also paid tribute to the departing star.
“It’s always difficult to say goodbye to a player like ‘Lids’ that has given such a significant part of his life to the Club,” Hardwick said.
“He’s made a wonderful contribution to our football Club for over a decade, and we wish him, Katie and Milla all the best.”
