The 2011 Rugby World Cup took place in what is deemed as the spiritual home of the oval ball code, New Zealand. In a highly anticipated tournament, many from around the world were eager too see their heroes go for a shot a glory. Heading into the cup, the Wallabies were riding high after winning the last Tri-Nations, but after suffering a shock loss to the Irish in the pool stage, the Wallabies were placed on the wrong side of the draw for he knockout stage. Even though they managed to squeeze past he reigning champions South Africa, the All Blacks crushed green an gold dreams in a semi-final rout. The two losses the Wallabies experienced were both at Eden Park... Maybe they are cursed...
New Zealand, the favourites heading into he cup cruised straight through to the final, even after the suffered the cruel blow when star player Dan Carter suffered an injury in training which ruled him out for the reminder of the tournament. In the final, the All Blacks were able to dispose of a hungry and determined French outfit but just like in the 1987 final, it was the Kiwis who prevailed on home soil.
