Salford are playing the waiting game over signing former Manly hooker Jackson Hastings.
The playmaker has been released by the Sea Eagles and is keen to move to the English Super League.
Hastings has been strongly linked with a move to English club Salford Red Devils after Huddersfield withdrew its interest.
But the transfer has yet to be confirmed.
Red Devils coach Ian Watson, when asked for an update on the situation with the 22-year-old, said: “There is nothing [new]. But 100 % I do [need new players], but that’s not in my hands.
“We have a small squad and everyone knows the situation we are in as a club. There are some areas that we feel we are not being helped off certain parts of the rugby league.”
