The National Rugby League’s long-awaited inaugural Women’s competition finally launches into action this weekend, with some subtle differences to the men’s version.
As discussed on Inside Sport’s Dead In Goal podcast this week, if you’re out and about at an NRL match this weekend, particularly the ANZ Stadium fixture on Saturday or the Suncorp Stadium finals game on Sunday – or watching from your couch at home - you may be lucky enough to see the first-ever NRLW season in action.
While there isn’t actually a sport called “women’s rugby league”, you may still spot a few differences between this exciting new competition and the way men’s NRL is played.

Among the major rules differences will be a 40/30 rule, 30-minute halves and ten interchanges per match. Apart from that, it’s the same game, but it’s set to take the rugby league world by storm.
