Former NRL star Ben Ross is set to take legal action against Channel Nine for his infamous arm wrestle with Wendell Sailor on the NRL Footy Show which resulted in him snapping his arm.
The incident occurred in June last year during a segment on the show but ended horribly when Ross slumped on the table with a severely broken arm.
Sailor retreated in shock while members of the footy show gasped in horror with the incident filmed live.
The 36-year-old, regarded as one of the nicest men in the game, has been forced to undergo a string of surgeries and does not have full use of his arm.
Ross, who has played in six Origins for Queensland, described the incident as the most painful of his life with the hard man receiving fractures, scars, plates and screws in his arm.
The Daily Telegraph reported Ross had told those close to him that he was preparing legal action against Nine.
“I’m not going to lie to you, I just came out of an operation a week ago,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“It’s been a year and a half and I’ve got a while to go yet.”
Ross is no stranger to pain and was almost forced in to retirement after suffering a severe neck injury in 2009.

The show’s executive producer Glenn Pallister told The Daily Telegraph any proposed legal action was news to him.
“I can confirm that we have had no such correspondence from Ben or anyone representing Ben,” Mr Pallister said.
“To the contrary, about a month ago Ben made us aware of a beautiful story, and then presented it for The Footy Show, showcasing the work of the Men of League charity, who we support and for whom Ben works.”
Ross retired in 2013 after making 173 NRL appearances.
