English Super League club Salford have been linked with a move for former NRL star Chris Sandow.
Sandow, who played for both South Sydney and Parramatta, has been in the rugby league wilderness since he left Warrington at the end of 2016.
Inside Sport understands Salford are trying to sign the halfback as they prepare for a battle against relegation in the Middle Eights.
The Red Devils have already signed ex-Manly utility Jackson Hastings and have been linked with acquiring Sea Eagles hooker Joey Lussick.
Sandow, a 159-NRL game veteran, controversially walked out on Warrington at the completion of the 2016 season.
Since then he was charged with a public nuisance offence after a street brawl in Queensland and then signed for Queensland Cup side Norths Devils.
The 29-year-old was later stood down by Norths and left the club after missing a training session.
In December he joined Mackay club Moranbah Miners.
It is believed Salford want to bring Salford to the UK for the rest of this season on a short-term deal to help them avoid the drop from Super League.
