Sydney’s 26 point loss to West Coast on Thursday signalled the club’s worst start to a season in 24 years.
At 0-4, no team with those stats has made the finals since 1999.
And things are only likely to get worse with the Swans facing cross-town rivals GWS in Round 5.
"Zero and four; clearly I'd like a better start. It's not a great spot to sit. But it is what it is,” Swans coach John Longmire said.
"We need to play better and more consistently.
"There isn't an area of our game that we are completely happy with, clearly, as the scoreboard indicates, so we need to get better at it."
Sydney is battling an injury crisis which should be alleviated in coming weeks with Isaac Heeney, Jarrad McVeigh, Sam Naismith, Gary Rohan and Kurt Tippett should all become available over the next couple of rounds.
