TABLE TENNIS: A SNAPSHOT
Please don’t call it whiff-whaff. Or even ping pong! To the highly skilled exponents of the modern game of table tennis, any other historic names demean the unbelievable skill and fabulous fitness demanded of them to compete at the highest level. It’s table tennis! A sport played by tens of millions of people around the world, and one of the most keenly contested events at any Olympic Games.
Here in Australia, the game seems to be having something of a growth spurt, with a whole new generation being introduced to the terrific fun the game offers in a marvellous social atmosphere. There are 10,000 competition players Australia-wide, with in excess of 60,000 more involved in the sport through the network of 150 table tennis clubs and associations in Australia. Of these, 105 have pathways from Juniors through to Veterans.
And every one of these clubs invites you to get along and join in the fun.
