Johnathan Thurston is set to become the game’s first $2 million man.
Thurston is expected to sign a percentage deal with his wage to be determined by the salary cap for the 2018 season.
The cap is expected to rise to $10 million in 2018 with Thurston to be offered 20% of the total cap in a revolutionary deal.
The 33-year-old is already one of the game’s highest paid players on more than $1 million a season.
Thurston is signed for the 2017 season.
