The Stars, boasting some of the world’s best players, like Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry, proved their loss in the final of the World T20 earlier this year to the West Indies was a mere speed hump on their road to dominance.

The Southern Stars will be presented the trophy during the second one-day international between Australia and South Africa in Sydney in November.

The win is the icing on the cake of an amazing year for our national team, and for women’s cricket in general.

The rapid formation of the WBBL last year has begun a revolution. Cricket Australia initiatives at the grassroots level have caused an explosion of participation.

“We are committed to making cricket the sport of choice for women and girls in Australia”, CA CEO, James Sutherland said.

“We want cricket to be as much a game for females as it is for males and much of that involves changing mindsets (both male and female) about how to make cricket more inclusive and supportive of women and girls.”

The upcoming issue of Inside Cricket, on the stands November 10, provides an overview of the breathtaking progress of the women’s game, bringing you up to date with all the latest developments.
