We knew this lot would be good, but few knew how great they would become.
MARC MURPHY
Since becoming the number-one draft pick of 2005, Murphy achieved the captaincy of Carlton after taking over from Chris Judd in 2013. The midfielder has gone to amass over 200 games for the Blues and achieved All-Australian status in 2011.
DALE THOMAS
Once hailed as a future Collingwood legend, the number-two draft pick has plied his trade with arch rivals Carlton since 2014. The skilled midfielder was part of the Magpies' latest successful era, winning the premiership with them in 2010 and becoming an All-Australian 2011.
XAVIER ELLIS
Hawthorn's number-three pick of 2005 had an injury-plagued time until his departure ahead of the 2014 season for West Coast. Ellis become a key component in the Eagles' march to the grand final in 2015, before being halted by his former side in their dominant run to a third consecutive premiership.
JOSH KENNEDY
After amassing just over 20 games for Carlton, Josh Kennedy was traded to the other side of the country to the Eagles for Chris Judd. The trade turned out to be a stroke of brilliance from the management of West Coast. Kennedy has become one of the most lethal forwards in the competition and led his side to their first grand final appearance in nine years. He capped off a brilliant 2015 season by winning the Coleman medal and being named as the All-Australian vice captain.
SCOTT PENDLEBURY
The midfielder has achieved a legendary career with the club that drafted him ten years ago. Pendlebury was a key component in the Magpies' run to the premiership in 2010, won the Norm Smith Medal in the decider, won five-straight All-Australian selections (2010-14) and achieved the club captaincy after replacing Nick Maxwell in 2014.
