The new S5000 open wheeler racing category will make its historic debut at Sandown this weekend. A field of 13 S5000 cars, headed by former Ferrari F1 driver Rubens Barrichello, will take to the Sandown track for the first race for these Australian-developed machines. Boasting state-of-the-art open wheeler technology and a powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine, S5000 is easily the fastest motor racing category in Australia outside of Formula 1 and the cars are expected to smash outright lap records at almost every circuit they visit.
