Bulldogs enforcer Greg Eastwood could be forced to retire after emergency heart surgery.
Eastwood had been having issues for some time with doctors unable to diagnose the issue after “10,000 tests”.
"I almost blacked out and almost crashed, sort of freaked out a bit and went to see the doctor," Eastwood told Seven News.
But with doctors having difficulty delivering a prognosis, Eastwood returned to pre-season training.
However, the issues returned when he took to the paddock with the forward suffering a traumatic episode due to an irregular heartbeat.
"Heart-rate went from 140 to 240 just out of nowhere," Eastwood said.
He underwent emergency surgery with doctors keeping him awake for the procedure.
The 30-year-old has returned to training once again and will undergo further tests next month.
The results of those tests will determine if he can continue his 247-game top flight career with retirement a real possibility.
But for now, Eastwood is hopeful that won’t be the case.
“It’s good to be back and it’s a bit scary but I am glad to be back with the team,” he said.
