Daly Cherry-Evans is doing his best to lure Mitchell Pearce to Manly in a bid to form one of the most destructive halves pairings in the NRL.
Pearce is on the open market after being granted a release by the Roosters following the singing of Australian and Maroons star Cooper Cronk.
The 28-year-old made the tough call to leave his childhood club after a decade at the Bondi club which he helped claim the 2013 Premiership.
A desire to be a starting halfback was the main reason for his departure and Cherry-Evans has told Pearce he can wear the No.7 jersey if he signs with the Sea Eagles, Fox Sports reports.
The Manly captain has not played five-eighth at NRL level but has represented Australia in the No.6 jumper on five occasions.
Cronulla and the Knights are also chasing the NSW Origin halfback who says he will not be rushed in to making a decision on his future.
Pearce has spoken openly about Manly’s interest with the northern beaches club offloading half Blake Green to the Warriors on Monday, the same day Pearce exited the Roosters.
“Obviously Manly have shown interest and there’s been a couple of other clubs,” Pearce said.
“I’m going to keep my options open and see what’s out there and what fits best for me.”
