Milford is yet to agree to a three-year $2.7 million deal tabled to him by Brisbane, the richest offered in the club’s history.

Cronk has confirmed he will depart Melbourne at seasons end and believes the Storm have the money to lure a player such as Milford.

“They have every right to speak to whoever they want,” Cronk said.

“I hope I’m not speaking out of school here.

“For the first time in a while Melbourne has some money to spend in the salary cap.

“Melbourne Storm are a smart football club.

“Great players, great club, great coach.”

Cronk is yet to decide on his future with the Australian and Queensland pivot moving to Sydney at seasons end to be closer to his fiancé.

The Bulldogs have been heavily linked to the No.7 but some have suggested the 33-year-old may retire all together.

“I’m truly pleased with the decision I’ve made,” Cronk said.

“Sorry I don’t have any answers to stop the conspiracy theories.”

Cronk will don the Green and Gold for the 33rd time on Friday against New Zealand and the half believes the international game is getting stronger after a decade of decline.

“The best thing about International Rugby League is that it’s taken a step in the right direction," he said.

“This test is a big one.

“The Kiwis probably weren’t completely happy with their performance in the Four Nations.”
