Paul Gallen says he could pull on the Sky Blue jersey once again if called upon by NSW coach Laurie Daley.
Gallen will run out for City in next week's City-Country Origin clash and did not rule out representing his state this year.
The 35-year-old retired from Origin following last year’s loss to Qld but has changed his tune as his NRL career edges to a close.
“That’s up to Laurie if I’m required,” Gallen said.
“All I can do is play good football for my club. I’m happy with my club form at the moment. I’m not going to go there at this stage.
“You never say no to Laurie Daley, that’s the same when I didn’t say no to Brad Fittler.
“I feel like I’m playing well, yeah. I think my performances have proven that. At the end of the day I want to be judged on my performances, not my age.”
Blues coach Laurie Daley would not rule out calling up Gallen if required.
“Gal’s a wonderful player and he’s playing really well at the moment. Who knows what’s around the corner,” Daley said.
“I think he’s been tremendous (this year). He’s an inspirational player. His numbers are good as they’ve ever been. I think he’s third or fourth on the Dally M board so he hasn’t lost anything.
“Gal’s game never changes regardless of what level footy he’s at.”
