October is Golf Month, when introducing the game to a host of new players is all par for the course.
And few occasions sum up the national participation drive better than the ‘Chip and Sip’ event at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club.
The nine-hole Ambrose competition attracted more than 70 women playing in groups of friends, with tips and top-ups throughout the day.

And while it’s not Augusta, MyGolf proved a big hit with Northern Territory youngsters who teed off at some of Australia's most iconic landmarks.
Students of Mutitjulu School, at the base of Uluru, and Watarrka School in the National Park had the chance to practice their golf skills on the red dust plains.
School Sports Coordinator and new golf coach, Tahlia Rutherford said: “The schools are a bit limited when it comes to flat, hard surfaces. At the Watarrka School, the playground is mostly sand.
“So with this in mind, I went straight into chipping activities with the students and they had a great time chipping to each other and trying to catch the ball.”
Few travelled further this month than little big-star-on-the-rise, Isaac Riches, who made a huge impression on The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
The five-year-old showed off his swing to a viewing audience of more than 2.6million, then got a hug from his hero and Australia’s former World Number 1 Jason Day.
Back in their home town of Armidale, Isaac and his Dad have helped others get involved in the game through MyGolf.
Meanwhile 20 clubs around the country are staging ‘come-and-try’ sessions for people with a disability proving that golf is one of the most inclusive games around.
Empower Golf provides all the equipment required, including the OttoBock Paragolfer all-terrain mobility device that assists people to stand up and play. All you have to do is turn up.
