Gould, Panthers head of football, did not hold back when asked by a Dragons fan what he made of the big money offer that is set to make Hunt one of the highest paid players in the game.

"I don't think a 3 bedroom, brick veneer home in Caringbah is worth a million dollars. But if you really want one, that's the price you pay," Gould tweeted.

Brisbane cannot offer Hunt anywhere near that amount but the one-team town is famous for keeping players on the books well below their market value.

The offer is thought to be above Hunt’s value, but as ‘Gus’ says, you are worth as much as someone is willing to pay.

Hunt infamously dropped the ball from the kick-off in extra time during the 2015 grand final which led to a Johnathan Thurston field goal and a Cowboys maiden premiership win.
