Kim Ravaillion has had a love for fitness since a young age as is clear from her performances for the Queensland Firebirds and the Australian Diamonds.
She talks to Inside Sport about turning her love for fitness into a profession.
"I was a little chubby kid when I was younger. As I grew older I worked out and saw the results," she said. ‘Training was something I really got into."
Seeing the results in her own work led to Kim wanting to help others see their own results themselves.
"Throughout school I knew I wanted to be a personal trainer and netballer, so I studied for accreditation straight after school and threw myself into becoming a trainer," Kim said.
"Then I started doing it as a job. Seeing results in clients is what makes me really happy."
While training is vital, Kim acknowledges that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is much more than just working out.
"Gretel Tippet, my team-mate at the Firebirds – and my flatmate – and I have put together a program made up of fitness and nutrition components which work hand in hand over a six-week period."
The program isn’t just for netballers either; it is for anyone looking to get fit.
"The program isn’t just aimed at young netballers looking to get fit and prepare for their coming netball seasons, anyone can use it really. There are pre-season, in-season and off-season options available," Kim said.
"We launched it in 2014; we’ve had a few good client results from it so far and we’re really happy with how it’s all going."
"It will be something for us to focus on after netty, but also a tool we can use to maintain our fitness throughout our playing careers."
