Jamal Idris’ career could be over after the big man injured his ACL at Tigers training.
It is the same knee he injured in 2015 during his last stint in rugby league at Penrith.
Idris returned to the NRL this season on a cut-price one-year deal with Wests following an 18-month sabbatical from the game which he spent travelling.
The 26-year-old is off-contract this year.
Idris has endured an injury-disrupted season, managing just five games this year.
He will meet with his surgeon on Friday and will be out of the game for a minimum six months.
Idris burst on the scene as an 18-year-old for Canterbury in 2008 while still in high school before stints at the Gold Coast and Penrith.
He played for NSW and Australia.
